Claire Earrings - My Version

Hello, lovely readers!

Summer is here and I am again bit by the beading bug. I think it is a good bug, what do you think?

For many months I have been wanting to make a version of the Claire Earrings from the free tutorial (HERE) provided by The Beadworkers Guild (UK) during International Beading Week (IBW).

My Version of Claire Earrings

Claire Earrings were designed by talented British designer Chloe Menage, who is a permanent IBW Ambassador. Her website is www.pinkhot.co.uk and her page on Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/pinkhotjewellery She is also on Instagram and YouTube.

I have downloaded the pdf tutorial, but I also have watched the YouTube video (HERE). Both are very good, but I do not agree that you can make a bezel with 32 Toho seed beads for a 14 Swarovski rivoli. I had to reduce to 30 Toho seed beads so that I could "capture" the rivoli. There is a clear difference in size between Miyuki 11/0 seed beads and Toho 11/0 seed beads. From my research, these Miyuki are 2.0 mm and the Toho are 2.2 mm. You can see the difference in size in the two following images.

A 14mm Swarovski rivoli bezel made with Toho seed beads (LEFT) versus Miyuki seed beads (RIGHT)

The difference in Toho 11/0 seed bead size (LEFT) from Miyuki 11/0 seed bead size (RIGHT) can be noticed at naked eye

The problem that arises from this difference is that you can not make the four-arm star decoration, which is really is a pity because it is gorgeous and it makes a difference in the details.

I love this pair of earrings, it is an elegant yet modern design. For those wondering and curious, I have used Swarovski Aquamarine rivolis, Miyuki 11/0 Metallic Gunmetal Iris 456 (it is neither blue nor green), 3mm Cobalt AB druks and Toho 15/0 Silver Nickel plated. I also have used a very small amount of Toho 11/0 Mat Iris Teal 706 for some contrast. My tassel is shorter than the original one.

I hope you like this design and version, if you do tell me in the comments.

Much love to you,

Ana

Starburst Earrings

Hi, lovely readers! Today I'd like to write about an amazing pattern by Deborah Roberti that I have been using a lot to make different colour combinations, and by doing that, the look of the finished product completely changes.

Original pattern

This is the original pattern with Rizo beads that I've changed later because I think the Rizos (the spike beads) are loose, sometimes pointing to the front sometimes to the back. This a free pattern that you can find HERESo, my change was replacing the Rizos by Mini Drops. You can see the difference in the below photo.

Changed pattern

Since I've made this replacement, I've been using this pattern a lot to make all kind of colour combinations.

Two coloured design

This is one of my favourite combinations. The superduos are just one colour and all the other beads are silver. The star is evident in this combination, more evident than in the combination above.

Two coloured design with picasso blue superduos

I love this one too. Lately, I have using lighter colours.

Light blue and light pink versions

Do you like to experiment with different colours using the same pattern?

Most of these earrings are available at my Etsy shop. I'm having a sale right now. Everything is 20% off.

Have a great week!

Barbara motif

Hi, lovely readers!

I've made a necklace using the Barbara motif, which was designed by Irene, a talented Belgium beader. You can visit her website HERE. You can use Google Translate to put the French text in your own language.

Barbara Necklace

Close-up of the necklace with three motifs

I adore it. I've used firepolished beads in blue and two sizes of Toho seed beads in bronze colour.

I've also made some earrings to match, adapting the pattern, but I find them too big.

So, I've used the Flora Earrings designed by Linda Genaw to make a smaller version. You can access the pattern HERE.

Happy beading!

Azul / Blue

I've made several pieces, all in blue, totally by chance. Some are gifts. I love blue. I wonder why there are so many people that have blue as their favourite colour.

Obrigada, Clair!

Hi! Today I'd like to show you a pair of earrings I've made using a beautiful design by Clair Rigby. This is Star Flower Pattern. You can find the tutorial for sale at her Obstinate Pursuit shop on Etsy. It's an easy to follow tutorial, with step-by-step instructions and a photo for each step. This is the first time I bead something from a tutorial and I got it right the first time. I haven't told you yet that I was the lucky girl who got the tutorial for free because my suggestion for a name was chosen by Clair. Thank you, Clair!

Na sexta-feira aderi a um novo desafio. Chama-se A Time to Stitch.

Last Friday, I signed up for A Time to Stitch. This is a challenge evolving around beading stitches. The reveal date is on the 15th January. The participants must make something using net stitch (mandatory) and for the other piece they can choose from spiral rope, chevron stitch and chenille. The last two I've no idea what they are.

Hello dear readers and be welcome, new members!  This is the second jewellery set I've just made with the fun tagua beads I won from Ecuadorian Hands. You can read my post about it, here. For today's set I've used these yellow round 7mm beads.

I added some coconut and wooden beads and the result were accessories with a natural and tropical look.

COLAR / NECKLACE
Long necklace made with cotton cord and natural beads. It is metal free.

Lenght is adjustable by pulling the threads that go through the closing bead.

PULSEIRA / BRACELET
Pulseira com fecho ajustável.
Bracelet with adjustable knot.

I've found this video on the internet where I learned how to make an adjustable ending for the bracelet.
Vídeo: How to tie a sliding knot bracelet (Como fazer uma pulseira com nó ajustável)

BRINCOS // EARRINGS
Brincos mini-borla.
Small tassel earrings.

Now I'm planning my next necklace but with some tagua slices. I've already decided about the design, all I have to do is start making it. Maybe this week-end. There is another giveaway from Ecuadorian Hands, this time at Beading Gem's Beading Journal. Thank you very much for your comments which brighten my day.

I discovered some months ago that I love beadwork with seed beads. Nevertheless, I am a beginner as I am learning the many different techniques. So far, I have learned brick stitch and circular brick stitch. While surfing the internet, I found Yasmine, an Italian blogger who writes in Portuguese - my native language. At her blog, I saw some Indian/Native American earrings that I wanted to try. Check out here for the instructions in Portuguese and in English that Yasmine has written and freely shared with us.

After, I made an another design in three different colours: black, red and white.

The next pair is a traditional Indian/Native American design too. Pentagon shaped, it is not easy to make but your effort is rewarded.

What's your favourite?  I'll add all these earrings to my shop that you can find at the other page of this website. I accept custom orders. Have a nice week!
