Mais um desafio - o da loja The Bead Shop Liverpool - com o tema Outubro.

Another challenge but this time from the The Bead Shop Liverpool. The theme was October.

Elaborei estes brincos com contas Delica, cristais Swarovski e pérolas Rayher, segundo um modelo de Viktoria Szabo, à venda na loja VikisBeadingTutorial no Etsy.

I've made these earrings with Delica beads, Swarovski bicones and Rayher pearls according to a pattern designed by Viktoria Szabo that you can find on VikisBeadingTutorial on Etsy.

Dia das Bruxas / Halloween

Apesar de o Dia das Bruxas não ser festejado em Portugal, persistem sobretudo em zonas rurais, tradições antigas, remanescentes do tempo dos celtiberos, como a de colocar uma abóbora esculpida com o interior iluminado por uma vela. Vejam aqui o artigo da Wikipédia sobre a tradição da Coca - assim se chama esta abóbora.

Halloween is not celebrated in Portugal, but in rural areas there are still ancient traditions dating from Celtiberian peoples such as putting carved and iluminated pumpkins at night. You can read more about this old tradition in this article from the Wikipedia.

A minha participação no Desafio do Dia das Bruxas, no blogue da simpática Yasmine, consistiu numa pulseira de corrente com fio laranja, da qual pende um berloque com a Coca feita em ponto tijolo. Depois de a concluir, apercebo-me que a minha Coca apresenta um sorriso de orelha a orelha pelo que não assustaria ninguém...

My participation in the Halloween Challenge for Yasmine Bijoux blog is a bracelet featuring a decorated chain with a Jack-o'-Lantern charm weaved in brick stitch. Now I find it too smiley, it wouldn't scare anyone...

Ganhei um wallpaper muito original onde está representada a minha obra de uma forma gráfica. Estou muito impressionada!

Star Flower Earrings

Olá. Hoje tenho para vos mostrar uns brincos que fiz para oferecer, segundo um modelo de Clair Rigby da loja Obstinate Pursuit no Etsy. Podem comprar as instruções para o esquema Star Flower que permite fazer uma pulseira ou uns brincos. Recomendo este tutorial porque as instruções são passo-a-passo com uma fotografia a cada passo. Consegui fazer logo à primera. Este foi o primeiro tutorial que segui. Não vos disse ainda que fui eu a autora do nome. A minha sugestão foi a escolhida e ganhei o tutorial. Obrigada, Clair!

Hi! Today I'd like to show you a pair of earrings I've made using a beautiful design by Clair Rigby. This is Star Flower Pattern. You can find the tutorial for sale at her Obstinate Pursuit shop on Etsy. It's an easy to follow tutorial, with step-by-step instructions and a photo for each step. This is the first time I bead something from a tutorial and I got it right the first time. I haven't told you yet that I was the lucky girl who got the tutorial for free because my suggestion for a name was chosen by Clair. Thank you, Clair!

Na sexta-feira aderi a um novo desafio. Chama-se A Time to Stitch. Vai na 4.ª edição. A data da revelação será no dia 15 de Janeiro do próximo ano. Os participantes fazem um trabalho em netting stitch (ponto rede) e outro num dos três permitidos serão o spiral rope (corda em espiral), o chevron stitch e o chenille - estes dois pontos não conheço.

Last Friday, I signed up for A Time to Stitch. This is a challenge evolving around beading stitches. The reveal date is on the 15th January. The participants must make something using net stitch (mandatory) and for the other piece they can choose from spiral rope, chevron stitch and chenille. The last two I've no idea what they are.

Uma prenda / A gift

Uma pulseira que fiz recentemente para oferecer a uma amiga, segundo o gosto da destinatária.
A bracelet I've made to gift a friend. I tried to suit her taste and style.

Eu gosto muito. Este é também o meu estilo.
I like this bracelet very much. This is my style too.

Eu tenho dois amores / I have two loves

EDITADO: corrigi a expressão «cota de malha» que não deve ser usada para referir a técnica chain maille.

Eu tenho dois amores. Hã? Eu passo a explicar. Actualmente, as minhas técnicas preferidas são duas: os trabalhos com missangas e os trabalhos com argolas de metal (chain maille).
I have two loves. What do I mean?!! I'll explain. At the moment, two techniques are my favourites: bead-weaving and chain maille. 

Desde o ano passado, quando comecei os trabalhos com missangas, aprendi a fazer os pontos: tijolo, espinha (herringbone), espinha em espiral, peyote e corda em espiral.
Since I started bead-weaving in 2012, I've learned spiral rope, brick stitch, spiral herringbone, herringbone and peyote (I've just learned this on Friday).

Nos trabalhos com argolinhas de metal (chain maille), que comecei há dois anos, aprendi a fazer a flor, a espiral dupla, a bizantina e a capacete.
In relation to chain maille, I've learned flower, double spiral, byzantine, european and helm weaves.

Gostam também destas técnicas ou consideram-nas demoradas e trabalhosas?
